Our master bedroom. This room was not up for any sort of a refresh as we had a few more rooms that had a higher priority in the makeover department. But, after several mornings of waking up with, what felt like a broken back, we bought a new mattress (details on what we went with soon!). And then the plan started flowing together.
Our Budget-Friendly Master Bedroom Plans!
Let’s take a look at what our bedroom looks like now, shall we?
The “Before”
Here is what prompted this whole makeover:
I have lived with this master bedroom furniture (and mattress!) for waaaaaaaaaaaaay longer than I’m willing to admit. It was time for a change.
The Plan
Here is our master bedroom plan I’ve dreamed up (pun intended!)
It’s a little easier on the eyes, isn’t it??
The Budget-Friendly Part!
Now how this turned into a budget-friendly master bedroom started with this IKEA bed frame:

It was on sale at IKEA for $99 (king size) about a year ago and, knowing that we were moving up to a king size bed from a queen size in the near future, we bought it and stored it in our very crowded basement. Now it’s the star of our master bedroom makeover turned budget challenge! I was so proud of this purchase that I set off in a budget-friendly direction – how good could I make it look for less?
This wallpaper spurred me on:

It’s from Target (online of course since Canada lost this wonderful retail giant). And while this particular print is discontinued, here is their current line of removable wallpaper.
I bought 5 rolls at $13.49 US a roll which is seriously insane. I heart removable wallpaper so much for so many reasons (mainly because I don’t have to use any sort of paste to put it up). And at that price, for this cute pattern, the shopping gods told me to buy it!
These 5 rolls are enough to cover the main focal point (the wall that will feature the bed) and I have an idea if I have enough leftovers to jazz up the other end of the bedroom.
The Accessories
The end tables we’re going to use are also from IKEA but they’re actually coffee tables meant for a living room. (You know me, I’m all about using pieces in different ways)

You can find the link for them here. Clean lines and they have that hit of black that I always use in my designs.
The lighting that will go above each beside table is from Urban Outfitters and I just love the scale of them. They also plug in which is perfect as I didn’t want to have to add any electrical anything into the walls.

I’ll be adding in some plant life for a change (the jury is still out on whether it will be faux or real – given my black thumb, it probably should be faux) and to tie the whole scheme together, I picked out this shibori fabric from fabric.com:

My hubby’s favourite colour is green and he requested a calm relaxing space. I think this look will achieve it!

I love those bed frames from IKEA as they are very minimalist.;-) I would also love to upgrade to a king sized bed but wouldn’t know what to do with my wooden queen bed frame., which was pricey. Where there is a will, there is usually a way….What are your plans for your wood bedroom set?
Lidia says
Thanks Kate!! Trying to sell it at the moment so we’re now living with 2 sets of bedroom furniture!

That’s an amazing deal for removable wallpaper!!
