As promised (quite awhile ago!) more living room goodness! I may have mentioned it before but our living room re-design happened pre-child so thoughts of washable surfaces and rounded edges did not cross our minds. Then I became pregnant! Versatility, storage and having a place to play became the most important features to have so a re-design of the re-design happened. You may have already seen this corner of our living room from a previous post:
Originally it was going to house a lounge type chair (think the Eames chair by Herman Millar) along with a chic side table for drinks. That plan got revised quick once we found out a little person was on its way so this is what it morphed into:
We didn’t think an Eames chair would make a great toy gym.
As much as I tried to make this area neat with fabric bins, and comfy with those puzzle mats, it always looked messy and the toys were starting to overrun the area. So I pared them back and came up with this little re-vamp:
With the lamppost-type lighting and outdoor photography wall, the teepee fit right in:
Play tents (or teepees!) are huge now so you may be sick of looking at them but they’re popular for a reason – kids LOVE them! (Adults too!) I actually made this one myself using a bunch of online tutorials (this one is my favourite) but if you’re going to tackle one yourself, do yourself a favour and pick fabric that is either one solid colour or has a very abstract pattern. Choosing one with stripes like I did caused all sorts of pain in terms of matching up sides, etc.
Want a peek inside?
I used faux shearling sheep skins and a few star and cloud pillows that I found at Bouclair. We also put in a little bin with some stuffies and toys if she was looking for a little retreat to play in. I kept 3 of the previous toy bins and kept only the toys and books she was interested in while storing the rest. The new rug is in our accent colour choice (purple!) and it is soft, cozy and a bit more chic than the mats we previously had.
Isn’t it cute?? I think Avery is a fan:

Another great post to enjoy with my morning coffee! Looks amazing!
The striped fabric has a real impact on the room’s design. Although it may have been more difficult to work with , it actually makes the whole concept more stylish .
Can hardly wait to see it all “up close & personal”!

Aw, thank you Shirley!!! That actually helps ease the pain of working with that fabric!! xo
