Oh. My. Goodness. Storage, and assembly and painting, oh my! We’re in the home stretch of the “One Room Challenge” with only one week to go until the reveal! Am I nervous about getting it all done? Yes! Linda, let’s talk about extensions! 😉 Until then, let’s talk about the “wall of storage” that my other half got up in time for this post! (Thank you John!!) But first, let me show you my progress thus far!
- (Week 1) I revealed we were going to make over our daughter’s room!
- (Week 2) I showed you the current layout of the room and my design plan;
- (Week 3) I dove into my daughter’s closet and gave it a makeover!
- (Week 4) I showed you my easy DIY bedside tables!
Back to week 5!
“Wall of Storage”
Here is what lived on said wall before:
I originally used two long picture ledges as book ledges. They were completely functional but they were also completely standard these days in any nursery or kids bedroom. For this makeover, I wanted something different with more storage and something that was more versatile. And I found it!
They are actually hanging planters that I found at my mecca, HomeSense. The backs of these planters are wood with an original walnut stain that I painted black for a high contrast effect. I know, I know, sacrilege! But I love it!
And the best part is that my daughter decided on this configuration. She’s going to be a designer yet! WOOHOO!!!
I dressed each cubby with a little pail of craft and play contents so that she could easily grab what she needed and then pop back the supplies once she was done with them.
Those little labels are actually planter signs that I thought was appropriate to use given that I’m using wall planters as toy storage! 😉
While she can’t quite reach the top cubbies, she’ll grow and be able to soon enough! Plus it adds an extra layer of protection given that I’ve included so many things that could be potentially messy so up the storage ladder they go! (Paint, I’m looking at you!)
Have you been watching everyone else’s room progress? If not, click below for more room transformation goodness! And check back next week for the reveal! (I nervously just typed that…)
