Can you believe we’re in week 4 of this challenge?! (Linda, can we have an extension?!) 😉 This week I’m going to be showing you the easy DIY bedside tables I came up with for my little girl’s room! But let’s start with a recap of what’s been done so far:
- (Week 1) I revealed we were going to make over our daughter’s room!
- (Week 2) I showed you the current layout of the room and my design plan;
- (Week 3) I dove into my daughter’s closet and gave it a makeover!
Onto week 4!
Easy DIY Bedside Tables
Storage is a big deal in this kiddo’s space so I’m trying to maximize it where I can. Her closet will store some toys and books but with her huge book collection, I needed more book storage! After scouting out some ideas, I found something I could DIY that would work both in function and in scale for the room.
The Materials
I bought two of these Valje white boxes when they were on clearance at IKEA for $9 each a few months ago. I knew someday I’d have a use for them! And thanks to the Home Depot, these beautiful legs made these DIY bedside tables happen!
The Process
I wasn’t joking when I said these little tables were easy to make. My hubby cut each leg down to the size I needed, painted them, added in a new bolt to each leg and then screwed them into the base. Easy peasy! I’ll draw up the tutorial after the ORC to show you how truly easy this was.
I love how simple and useful these little tables are. My daughter loves reading and having stories read to her so this set-up is totally her jam! Plus the addition of another puppy in the room did not go unnoticed 😉
(This vintage pup is from Jen’s fabulous shop which you must check out!)
I’m quickly realizing that there are only 2 weeks left until the room reveal and I still have quite a bit to do! I have more wall storage to shore up, play tables to set up, more pillow sewing and more window curtain hemming to do! BUT, I think it’s doable…with a few more late nights!
I hope you’ll keep following the progress of this space and be sure to check out all of the featured designers and participants! (They’re giving me ideas for the next ORC! John is scared…LOL!)
A big thank you goes to the Home Depot for being a sponsor! I can’t tell you how many trips I’ve made to their store for this challenge (and for pretty much any renovation we do!) 🙂

Love the hot pink art work and that tables turned out so cute! At first glance I thought the legs were numb chucks, LOL. Shows that I clearly spend too much time at the Karate dojo.

What a great idea for a bedside table, those legs painted black really finish it off. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve bought something not knowing what I’d use them for and then inspiration kicks in and it all makes sense. Your daughter is a lucky girl, I can’t wait to see the full reveal!!
