How are you enjoying the “One Room Challenge” so far? Have you taken a look at all of the designers and their plans for their spaces? I’m so crazy inspired that I may call Linda from “One Room Challenge” to organize an ORC every six weeks! (Ok my hubby just read this and is shaking his head ‘no’, LOL!) This week we’re talking layout and the state of our home during this makeover. We’re dubbing it “The Warehouse”.
It has to get ugly before it can get pretty, right?! 😉
I’ve been sourcing my head off as I’m sure all of the designers of this challenge have! And I came to quickly realize that the things that you imagine in your head aren’t necessarily out there and/or DIY-ing them is impossible! I did however find some pretty fantastic stuff that I’m dying to show to you! But first, let’s talk layout.
Room Layout
This is an overhead view of what the room looked like before I started pulling it apart! And this is what I intend to put in its place! The sleeping area will still house only one bed BUT there is an option for a second bed for sleepovers! It just won’t be a permanent fixture in the room as the space can’t hold two single beds plus the play areas I want to add in. But bear with me, all will be revealed later on!
Play tables will take the place of where the old dresser used to be along with two funky adorable chairs I found! The previously open closet area is getting a mini-makeover and it will have the option to hide any closet mess. The wall right next to the window is getting some unique storage that I recently sourced with my little one. She was just as excited as I was when we found them!
Here’s a little reminder of my mood board for this space:
Everything is either enroute to our place or it’s in our home (somewhere!). Now to put it all together! Side note, while I’ve been working away, these two have been regularly providing me lovely music to work to 🙂
Be sure to check out the featured designers and guest participants. Their creativity will knock your socks off!

It’s fantastic that you’re putting a designated play area in the bedroom! Every kid needs that! Can’t wait to see the space 👍🏻
Lidia says
Thank you so much Diane! It was out of necessity as we don’t have a family room on the main level – gah! But I’m so glad I’m able to fit a little play area in her space!

We’re redoing a room out in our garage and our house is still looking like a warehouse. ha. It just seems so impossible to keep the project bits and pieces from taking over!!
Lidia says
YES!!! OMG I’m glad it’s not just me! LOL!
